Stoneware Consultants Ltd was established by Richard Rothwell in early 2020 based on 27 years working in investment management following an initial 7 years as a chartered accountant.
Stoneware Consultants Ltd has an affiliated firm, Stoneware Capital LLP, which has been authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK since 2006 (or the Financial Services Authority as it was then), when it was established by Richard as the investment manager of an offshore global equities hedge fund.
The company's ambition is to become a primary point of contact for professionals seeking unregulated advice within our areas of expertise, centred around investment management and investment decision making. Our activities include the following services:

Our expert witness experience began in 2014 with two significant legal cases. The first case ended with a deposition in the Upper Tribunal Tax and Chancery Chamber in London. The second case was settled prior to being heard in the High Court of Ireland via a mediation in 2019; over a five year period, we prepared a series of expert reports, which included independent calculations for the values of complex OTC options and other illiquid assets plus a calculation of a claim for damages, culminating with responses to the opposing experts.
Being an expert ideally requires knowledge at a detailed operational level as well as having the experience of managerial oversight at a senior level. If necessary, Stoneware Consultants Ltd is able to draw on the experience of our Associates, who typically work or have worked in senior roles at large financial institutions. Some have left a large institution to become part of a smaller entrepreneurial business, gaining a complimentary and detailed understanding of local operations.
